This year we will challenge you in two ways. We have selected blocks for each month with a Holiday theme. The blocks are 7"x7" foundation patterns which can be made larger by adding a border to them. If you're not into foundation piecing and you want to do an applique block or embroidery block that's ok too but we ask that you keep with the monthly theme. Example, the theme for January is a Snowman and February is a Heart. Click here to receive the Snowman pattern.
In February you should have your January and February blocks ready, then it will be one Holiday block each month until July. At that time you will make your July and December themed blocks. In August, September and October you will be back to the one Holiday block pattern for each month. This gets you 12 blocks for your top.
What is the challenge you ask? We hope that you will make 2 blocks, one for the drawing each month and one for yourself (which you can embellish any way you like!). We'd like for you to bring your blocks to the November Workshop and put your quilt top together.
For those of you who win the blocks in the drawing at our monthly meeting, you too can put them together at the November Workshop if you'd like.
We will also provide you with a bonus pattern for a Birthday Cake pattern that you can use as a label for your quilt if you're making it as a gift for someone's birthday.
Don't worry if this is a little confusing for you, we'll help keep you on track each month at the meetings or feel free to contact one of us if you have any questions. Have FUN with it!
