Cypress Creek Quilter’s Guild 2010 Charity Projects
For 2010, CCQG will be working on multiple charities throughout the year. At any time a member can choose from the list of charity projects below and bring your finished project to the monthly guild meeting.
QUILTS OF VALOR: A Quilt of Valor is a hand-made tribute awarded to a service member injured in war on terror primarily in Iraq and Afghanistan, consisting of a pieced quilt top, batting and backing. Quilts will be given to James A. Haley Vetrans Hospital for distribution. Scrap & Sew has agreed to be a Quilt of Valor drop location for our guild. As quilts are completed they will go on display during our monthly Show & Tell portion of our meeting.
MEDICINE PILL CONTAINERS: Empty pill containers are needed for use in third world countries. Please remove the labels from the containers and bring them to our monthly meetings.
TABS FOR KIDS: CCQG is collecting can tabs for the children of the Shriners' Hospital in Tampa. Please bring your tabs to the monthly meetings.
ADULT CLOTHING PROTECTORS: Protectors are needed at the VA nursing home. Patterns are available.
BREAST CANCER HEART PILLOW: These are needed for recovering patients (both men and women) of mastectomies and those undergoing Chemotherapy. Please make them with a very soft fabric, such as fleece. Patterns are available. You may also donate fiber to the Charity group.
Walker Caddy: Walker caddy's are needed at our local nursing homes. Patterns are available.
Kids Quilts: We will be making quilts throughout the year for children at Hope Childrens Home. Please donate suitable fabrics such as cotton or fleece at any time. We will cut and sew the quilt tops at the workshops.
HELP OUR NEIGHBOR: In July we will be collecting cash donations for kids at Hope Children's Home. In October and November we will collect cash donations for a local food bank to purchase food for their pantries. A member who is in need may be granted a scholarship.
Please save your Hobbs Batting labels and UPC codes to help us purchase batting at a low cost for our projects.
We invite you to see our Charity display at our monthly Guild meetings.
